Cambridge’s first South Asian Dance Festival

We held our first Cambridge Dance Festival on Sunday 7th July 2024. The festival’s dance workshops and performances drew from a wide range of South Asian dance traditions and were tailored to different ages and abilities.

Workshops included beginner level Bollywood dance workshops for children and adults, run by Aparajita Burjwal Dance, and a Manipuri therapeutic dance workshop run by Noel Datta, a dance movement psychotherapist and performer.

The evening entertainment showcased the best of South Asian culture and dance, with stunning and vibrant performances from professional dancers in a variety of dance styles, as well as local performers from our very own award-winning Sanskruti Cambridge dance school.

Performers included Suhani Dhanki Mody, a performer, teacher and choreographer, as well as Indian TV and film actress; Noel Datta, who performed Manipuri, one of the major Indian classical dance forms from Manipur; and the ever-popular Bollywood dancing, courtesy of London-based dance company Aparajita Burjwal Dance.

Thank you to Cambridge Junction, and to our sponsors  Alley Cat Car & Van Rentals, Namaste Cambridge and Altone Ltd in Sawston.
